Who are we?

The Cognitive Engineering Laboratory (CEL) was founded in 1992 and is primarily concerned with conducting basic and applied research on how to introduce information technology into complex work environments so that the prerequisites for an effective feedback control system can be satisfied.

The CEL, in conjunction with the Ergonomics in Teleoperation and Control Laboratory (ETC) and the Interactive Media Lab (IML), is one of the three laboratories that comprise the University of Toronto's Human Factors Research Group. All three labs are located in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

This website is designed to provide you with a comprehensive view of the work being conducted at the CEL and the people responsible for its success. Any questions or comments on the material presented here can be emailed to Dr. Kim J. Vicente or Dr. Greg A. Jamieson, directors of the Cognitive Engineering Laboratory.
